Sunrise Granola Bars


  • ½ Cup chopped whole almonds, or slivered almonds
  • 2 1/3 Cups Sunrise Flour Mill Oat Cereal
  • ¼ Cup butter, cut into ½” pieces
  • Cup pure honey (no added sugars)
  • ¼ Cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp sea salt (omit if using salted butter)
  • ½ Cup coarsely chopped dried cranberries or raisins
  • ½ Cup mini chocolate chips, divided


  • Heat oven to 350F
  • Spread the Oat Cereal and nuts on a large baking sheet.
  • Brown for 5 minutes, then check and stir. Toast another few minutes until lightly toasted. Watch closely so they don’t burn.
  • Pour into a large mixing bowl and let cool.
  • In a small saucepan, combine butter, honey, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt (if using).
  • On low heat stirring constantly, stir until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add cranberries/raisins and half the mini chocolate chips.
  • Line 9”x9” pan with parchment paper (you can use an 8”x8” pan but the bars will be a little thicker and harder to cut).
  • Put the oat mixture into the prepared pan. Press the mixture evenly into the pan making sure to press well into the corners and around the edges. Make sure to press hard. The more packed you can get the mixture the better the granola bars will hold together. You can use your fingers or a glass to help this process.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mini chocolate chips over the top and press lightly.
  • Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to let the bars set.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the bars into rectangles, or 1” bite-sized pieces for a grab and go snack.
