Sunrise Flour Mill Testing Summary

Sunrise Flour Mill Testing Summary

Our Testing & Transparency Promise

At Sunrise Flour Mill, we believe good food starts with trust. Our heritage grains are grown with care, milled with intention, and tested with the same rigor you’d expect from the very best better-for-you brands.

Because when you’re feeding your family, you deserve to know exactly what’s inside.

That’s why we go beyond what organic and natural standards require — and test all of our flours and ingredients through accredited, independent laboratories.

Our commitment is simple: Clean flour. Honest milling. Radical transparency.

Tested for Purity. Proven Clean.

We regularly test for glyphosate and heavy metals, two topics customers ask about most. Below you’ll find a clear explanation of what we test for, why it matters, and what our results consistently show.

This information is based on recent third-party laboratory testing.

Glyphosate Testing

Extremely Low Levels Across All Sunrise Flours

In independent lab analysis, glyphosate levels across our flours ranged from:

0.01–0.04 mg/kg (10–40 parts per billion)

To put that into context:

Standard

Allowed Limit

Sunrise Range

U.S. EPA limit for wheat

30 mg/kg

0.01–0.04

European Union limit

10 mg/kg

0.01–0.04

Our results are:

  • 750–3,000× lower than U.S. limits

  • 250–1,000× lower than EU limits

These are considered trace levels and are among the cleanest results commonly seen in the grain industry.

Even organic farms can show tiny environmental traces. Our consistent results reflect clean soils, careful stewardship, and tight control over milling.

Heavy Metals Testing

Naturally Occurring. Tested to Ensure Safety.

Heavy metals occur naturally in soils around the world. What matters most is how much — and our testing reflects very low levels, well below international grain guidelines.

Here’s what we consistently see across Sunrise flours:

Heavy Metal

Range Found

Interpretation

Arsenic

<0.010–0.065 mg/kg

Very low; within natural soil variation

Lead

<0.010 mg/kg

Not detected in any sample tested

Mercury

<0.010 mg/kg

Not detected in any sample tested

Cadmium

0.023–0.044 mg/kg

Very low; far below global grain guidelines

For additional context:

  • WHO/Codex grain guidelines for cadmium: 0.2–0.3 mg/kg

  • California Prop 65 “safe harbor” for lead: 0.5 mg/kg

Sunrise results fall significantly below each of these standards.

How We Test

Independent • Accredited • Gold-Standard Methods

Our testing partners use the same methodologies trusted by leading BFY brands:

  • ISO/IEC 17025 accredited labs

  • LC-MS/MS for glyphosate (gold standard)

  • ICP-MS for heavy metals (high-precision technology)

  • Routine verification for ongoing quality

We test because we care — not because regulations require it.
