What is Heritage wheat?
Heritage wheat was the predominant wheat grown in America up until the 1950’s. Many people find it more digestible than modern wheat. Its long deep root system allowed it to survive the Dust Bowl, and gave the Midwest its famous nickname “The a Bread Basket”. Heritage wheat was a staple in every household. The history of it can be tracked to biblical times and has been responsible for nourishing generations. It was grown before the introduction of intensive scientific plant breeding.This wheat is experiencing a resurgence.

I just began baking breads at home. I wanted heritage flour, organic and non GMO so that the bread would be more wholesome than commercial bread. I am very happy with the results!
Love this flour
I've been using the bread blend flour to make ciabatta and sourdough bread and love it. I also use the white for everyday such as pancakes, scones, muffins, etc. I do find it easier to digest. And it's organic which is the only flour I will use!

I have always been a bread baker—French bread, challah, soft rolls, etc. Since gluten free flours do not react the same way as wheat flour, I quickly became discouraged with the results and stopped baking bread. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to find Sunrise Flour Mill and the heritage flour they mill. I now make my own bagels and English muffins in addition to the other breads that I was able to return to baking. All are delicious and my body has no problem digesting them. I have encouraged GF friends to try your products—with the caveat that not everyone reacts (or doesn’t react) the same way. That said, I’m delighted to be able to return to eating regular baked goods!

I've been using SFM flours for about 1 year. Used the latest Bread flour shipment to make Baguettes for Thanksgiving dinner. Using my new baguette pan and lame. They were a big hit with the family. This flour makes great tasting bread. Also made Italian bread for the French toast for breakfast, I could not cook it fast enough, everyone said it was delicious! Also served pancakes made with the 7 grain mix, also a big hit! I was eating GF for about 30 years due to gastro problems, tried SFM bread flour and have no problems. My only issue is I must now work on my baking skills.
Sunrise Heritage Bread Flour consistently delivers great results! I could not eat “regular” bread due to gluten sensitivity, but the heritage flour works for me! Our entire household eats nothing but home baked breads and treats. It’s expensive (relative to big box flours) but SO, SO worth it! Excellent product!
Love at first bite!
I’m a novice bread baker, but I want to make an effort to start making my own baked goods because I love baking. This was my first time trying this flour and it is DELICIOUS! It also doesn’t leave you feeling heavy or bloated like other types of flours.

Bread and whole wheat flours
I did a mix of flours and made some very tasty bread. I dipped it in my hot potato soup. I've learned from this experiment that the long rolls would have proofed better in a long small pan. But I'm not worried about looks only taste and it was delicious.
This is one of the few flours I can digest without issues. I've been using it in my new bread machine and it works wonders. Thank you for telling me about the Zohirushi bread machine. It's great for getting dough ready for me to bake depending on what I'm preparing to just allowing it to do all the work from kneading, to proofing, to baking. Flour holds its own in the machine and I get a very good rise, not to mention the delicious taste.

I found this flour is easy to work with and recently put together a sourdough starter using this flour. So far it's working well. I like that the dough rises very well and is very digestible even using straight yeast dough.

I’ve been making loaves of bread for awhile with this and it’s amazing! The type of bread has been the sandwich loaf bread and not sourdough. Highly recommend!
