This is a unique blend of two wheat flours- Turkey Red and White Sonora. Turkey Red is a strong winter wheat that's rich in protein with excellent baking qualities. White Sonora is a soft wheat with a rich, nutty flavor and creamy-gold color. These flours are heritage, organic, single-source products.

I was waiting a few days to be sure as I am in disbelief. I have a very high intolerance to wheat. If I mistakenly have a marinade that has wheat in it, I am in discomfort within 30 minutes of eating. I have not eaten regular bread in about 20 years. I made a loaf of bread with the Heritage Bread Blend and it came out beautiful with a nice crispy crust. I allowed myself two bites and then waited. No pain at all so the next day I ate a whole slice and was fine. The next day I made the families traditional Easter Bread that we haven't enjoyed in a long time. It came out amazing and we could all eat it!

I used the Heritage Bread Blend to make sourdough bread. My first time baking sourdough bread. Even though I did not knead it thoroughly, it turned out well. This sourdough bread will not last long. My husband and I ate two slices right away. The texture is dense - maybe from my not kneading it enough, but it was very moist and very delicious with more than store-bought level of soreness, and tastes "healthy". I will be baking this again before the week is out!

Okay!!! Full disclosure.. this is the first time I have made homemade bread, EVER. I am not a "baker" by any clear meaning of that word, but I love to cook. So.. I am gluten intolerant and my husband is on a strict low sodium diet. I have been buying Udi's GF ancient grain Omega Flax & Fiber bread and Food for Life GF eng muffins for me $$$ and the lowest sodium breads I can find for my husband (not easy). So not knowing how this was going to come out and the sodium issue, I went with.... * 10 oz of room temp purified water * 1/2 tsp of rosemary sea salt (That's all I had on hand for sea salt) I can only say, WHY haven't I been making my own bread all this time?! This is Delicious and Easy to Make!!! I don't eat a lot of bread, but I have not had any issues so far!!! I will surely be trying some other products.

My daughter has severe reactions when she eats gluten, that is with bloating and pain. I never baked bread and thought I would try this flour. IT WAS AMAZING!! I'm so happy with this flour! I ordered it to make a healthy sourdough/sandwich loaf for my husband. I'm technically gluten-intolerant, but I've heard that many GI people tolerate a clean sourdough so I wanted to put it to the test for myself. My first bake was a pizza dough with the flour (not fermented) and I experienced my typical gluten-reaction, but a little more mild than usual. I was disheartened for myself but I began a sourdough starter and my first loaf was not very sour. The subsequent loaves were more and more flavorful and, much to my happy surprise, bothered me less and less!! I've come to learn that a mature starter breaks down much of the irritating enzymes in wheat and releases more of the good-for-you nutrients. I can now enjoy REAL sourdough bread without pain! On top of that, I ran out of flour last week and had to buy my husband sandwich bread from the store. He told me a day or two later that it makes his throat feel scratchy and irritated. (It was even the fancy "healthy" kind!) Further proof to me that "mainstream" wheat is so toxic. I'm so grateful that we found this company!!! I decided to try Sunrise Mills Heritage flours (white and bread flour) to see if my sensitivity to wheat and gluten would be impacted. Typically, traditional store-bought or homemade breads with standard or even organic flours would create upper digestive issues with me, resulting in heartburn. So far, after consuming half of a homemade sourdough bread loaf made with Sunrise Mills Bread Flour (and with a starter that was fed Sunrise Mills white flour), I can report having no digestive upset. I wouldn’t understand why, but my sourdough bread made with Sunrise Mills has a better chew than the sourdough loaves I’ve made in the past, also. I look forward to trying the SM pasta next!

Excellent blend! I've been wheat sensitive for the last 15 years and I have enjoyed the bread I baked with the Heritage Bread Blend with no issues! I made a loaf and added a bit of the Organic 7-Grain blend also. My husband enjoyed the flavor also. I'm so glad I found you!

I have made 4 loaves of bread and 24 cinnamon rolls. The product is good and my family loves having fresh bread! The flavor and texture is wonderful! I wanted the alternative to processed wheat flour since I have 2 markers for celiac disease. I am checking to see if by eating bread made with this flour will help my digestive issues and not have to go gluten free.

It is rare that I find myself lacking in descriptive words being as I’m a content writer….until now! Since pictures speak much louder than words, I am attaching photos of my latest bread here! If it weren't so cold there, I'd move next door to your mill!! Oh wait! My flour had only been milled for 3 days when I received it!! The aroma was outstanding! Fellow bread lovers, until you’ve tried to source “clean, nutritious” flours you may not appreciate the service Sunrise Flour Mill is doing for the health of those who find them. (I’m not affiliated with Sunrise in any way) - other than a new and very loyal customer!! A little realized factoid, roughly 65% of U.S. citizens have an inability to use or clear synthetic folic acid from their bodies. This can set up a host of health issues. Sunrise Flour Mill is one of only a few mills, that don’t enrich their flours with harmful synthetic ingredients. They have no need to because they don’t strip the vital and naturally occurring nutrients from their flours. The results are beautiful, healthy breads and more!! That was waffles for me this morning-with the Sunrise 7-grain Heritage Pancake Mix, that I loaded with blueberries and drizzled with melted butter. Have not baked my own bread in a long time, but was curious to see if using non-GMO flour would be easier on my digestive system. I don’t have gluten intolerance, but bread does tend to make my tummy puffy. We’re on our second loaf, now, and I have noticed my tummy isn’t as “round” as usual. My jeans are definitely fitting better! The bread has a great flavor without being “strong,” perfect for toasting. I haven’t used it for sandwiches, yet. The consistency seems a little dry for sandwiches, but I’m going to play with the recipe to see if I can make a slightly more moist bread. Will continue to make my own bread using this flour, it really is delicious!

Have not baked my own bread in a long time, but was curious to see if using non-GMO flour would be easier on my digestive system. I don’t have gluten intolerance, but bread does tend to make my tummy puffy. We’re on our second loaf, now, and I have noticed my tummy isn’t as “round” as usual. My jeans are definitely fitting better! The bread has a great flavor without being “strong,” perfect for toasting. I haven’t used it for sandwiches, yet. The consistency seems a little dry for sandwiches, but I’m going to play with the recipe to see if I can make a slightly more moist bread. Will continue to make my own bread using this flour, it really is delicious!

I made hamburger buns from scratch with this bread flour and my family loved it. My husband said they tasted like something out of a high-end restaurant. The hamburger buns freeze well too.     I was waiting a few days to be sure as I am in disbelief. I have a very high intolerance to wheat. If I mistakenly have a marinade that has wheat in it, I am in discomfort within 30 minutes of eating. I have not eaten regular bread in about 20 years. I made a loaf of bread with the Heritage Bread Blend and it came out beautiful with a nice crispy crust. I allowed myself two bites and then waited. No pain at all so the next day I ate a whole slice and was fine. The next day I made the families traditional Easter Bread that we haven’t enjoyed in a long time. It came out amazing and we could all eat it!

    Our family has been Paleo for the last 8 years, and my goodness have we missed bread. My kids and I have several food sensitivities, and while we are grateful that we found a diet that keeps us healthier and happier, there are certain things that are hard to give up.

    We’ve probably tried every alternative flour out there (einkorn, cassava, various nut flours, etc), but we’ve never found some thing that made us feel great, or that was close enough to wheat bread to make it worth it.

    After all of our previous failures, I almost didn’t try sunrise flour. Imagine my surprise when it actually worked! Our entire family can eat bread made with this flour with no issues. And that isn’t after just a try or two, this is after a few months of weekly usage. Thank you for making this product!!

    At the moment, we are very satisfied with the physical reaction (none) that we had to this flour blend. I started with simple street tacos, which requires the fewest ingredients to interfere with the actual flour, to see if anyone had any reaction and I am pleased to report there were none. Next is actual bread and I’ll report back.

    My husband, our adult daughter, and I have developed issues with wheat flour. That is, extreme discomfort when eating products made from wheat flour. We had heard that people visiting Europe who had problems over here had no problems with European breads. When visiting in Sweden, we tried their breads and found we could eat them with no problems.     I used the Heritage Bread Blend to make sourdough bread. My first time baking sourdough bread. Even though I did not knead it thoroughly, it turned out well. This sourdough bread will not last long. My husband and I ate two slices right away. The texture is dense – maybe from my not kneading it enough, but it was very moist and very delicious with more than store-bought level of soreness, and tastes “healthy”. I will be baking this again before the week is out!

    Okay!!! Full disclosure.. this is the first time I have made homemade bread, EVER. I am not a “baker” by any clear meaning of that word, but I love to cook. So.. I am gluten intolerant and my husband is on a strict low sodium diet. I have been buying Udi’s GF ancient grain Omega Flax & Fiber bread and Food for Life GF eng muffins for me $$$ and the lowest sodium breads I can find for my husband (not easy).
    So not knowing how this was going to come out and the sodium issue,
    I went with….
    * 10 oz of room temp purified water * 1/2 tsp of rosemary sea salt (That’s all I had on hand for sea salt)
    I can only say, WHY haven’t I been making my own bread all this time?!
    This is Delicious and Easy to Make!!!
    I don’t eat a lot of bread, but I have not had any issues so far!!! I will surely be trying some other products.

    I have been gluten free for 5 years due to gut issues with gluten. I have been able to use Einkorn flour, but my husband complained that it didn’t taste like the flour he is used to nor does it work like regular flour in recipes. I have looked for alternate flours that work in recipes, without much success. We are both delighted to find your heritage flour.     I contacted your company about what flour would be good to use in a bread machine. It was recommended to try the Heritage Blend. I made one loaf using egg in the ingredients. It turned out very well. My next loaf I will try it without the egg to see if the loaf is a little lighter. Next time I bake a loaf, I will take a picture and post it on Facebook.     I’m so happy with this flour! I ordered it to make a healthy sourdough/sandwich loaf for my husband.

    I’m technically gluten-intolerant, but I’ve heard that many GI people tolerate a clean sourdough so I wanted to put it to the test for myself.
    My first bake was a pizza dough with the flour (not fermented) and I experienced my typical gluten-reaction, but a little more mild than usual.

    I was disheartened for myself but I began a sourdough starter and my first loaf was not very sour. The subsequent loaves were more and more flavorful and, much to my happy surprise, bothered me less and less!!

    I’ve come to learn that a mature starter breaks down much of the irritating enzymes in wheat and releases more of the good-for-you nutrients. I can now enjoy REAL sourdough bread without pain!

    On top of that, I ran out of flour last week and had to buy my husband sandwich bread from the store. He told me a day or two later that it makes his throat feel scratchy and irritated. (It was even the fancy “healthy” kind!)

    Further proof to me that “mainstream” wheat is so toxic. I’m so grateful that we found this company!!!

    I decided to try Sunrise Mills Heritage flours (white and bread flour) to see if my sensitivity to wheat and gluten would be impacted. Typically, traditional store-bought or homemade breads with standard or even organic flours would create upper digestive issues with me, resulting in heartburn. So far, after consuming half of a homemade sourdough bread loaf made with Sunrise Mills Bread Flour (and with a starter that was fed Sunrise Mills white flour), I can report having no digestive upset. I wouldn’t understand why, but my sourdough bread made with Sunrise Mills has a better chew than the sourdough loaves I’ve made in the past, also.
    I look forward to trying the SM pasta next!

    Oh! My bread and yeast coffee cakes were so light and fluffy! Not heavy like bricks with “regular “ flour! And as with their other flour no digestive issues!     Placing an order online is simple and easy. I do wish that I could have ordered the 10lb. Heritage Bread Blend, but it was out of stock. But, that is ok, I just started making bread last week! I have made 4 loaves of bread and 24 cinnamon rolls. The product is good and my family loves having fresh bread! The flavor and texture is wonderful!

    This has surely become my go-to bread flour. It makes a great loaf, either sourdough or yeasted, kneads up nicely, great gluten development. And, oh, by the way, the finished product also tastes great. There’s a look and smell that is not there in supermarket varieties, and it doesn’t hurt that when you look at the tag that says when it was milled, it was last week, not this year sometime, probably.

    I love the bread flour. I have tried multiple recipes from regular loaves of bread to sweet rolls. I’ve even made southern dumplings with success. I’m sorry, but I’m not a picture taker. Perhaps if we’re able to gather at Thanksgiving, one of my children will snap a picture of hot rolls. You didn’t ask, but with an earlier shipment I purchased the pizza flour. That was the first good pizza we had since going GF!

    Sunrise, your flour has moved my sourdough bread enthusiasm from Extreme to OFF the charts Crazed!! This was my 2nd time ordering, but first time purchasing your Bread Flour. It is rare that I find myself lacking in descriptive words being as I’m a content writer….until now!

    Since pictures speak much louder than words, I am attaching photos of my latest bread here! If it weren’t so cold there, I’d move next door to your mill!! Oh wait! My flour had only been milled for 3 days when I received it!! The aroma was outstanding!

    Fellow bread lovers, until you’ve tried to source “clean, nutritious” flours you may not appreciate the service Sunrise Flour Mill is doing for the health of those who find them. (I’m not affiliated with Sunrise in any way) – other than a new and very loyal customer!!

    A little realized factoid, roughly 65% of U.S. citizens have an inability to use or clear synthetic folic acid from their bodies. This can set up a host of health issues. Sunrise Flour Mill is one of only a few mills, that don’t enrich their flours with harmful synthetic ingredients.

    I haven’t made bread in a while because I am tired of dry crumbly bread with not much flavor. I tried your Heritage Bread Blend and I am back to baking bread for Thanksgiving again! The texture was even and fine and the slices held together for sandwiches. I had to leave home during the first rise so it rested for four hours.     Love this flour. I developed gluten sensitivity four years ago and was so sad to have to give up bread. All the gluten free flours are pretty much awful and I haven’t found a bread that I enjoyed. After hearing about heritage wheat I was a bit skeptical but tried it anyway. I had developed sensitivity to many food items so I had a really restricted diet and was so miserable. I have never had any issues With this flour so it is a lifesaver! We use this with the simple bread recipe on the website and it is delicious. Haven’t tried making sourdough yet but we will soon. Customer service is excellent – flour ships out quickly.

    I ordered this as an experiment, influenced by the reviewers with gluten intolerance who said they can tolerate bread made with this flour. My daughter has had to follow a gluten-free diet for several years now. Knowing how hard it is to give up homemade bread, I thought I’d buy a bag and make a loaf for her to try. I was impressed by the aroma and the way the dough handled; it was bouncy and springy to the touch even before any serious kneading. The finished loaf had a lovely even crumb and good moisture. My daughter reported that she was able to have a slice without the immediate discomfort she usually experiences. Time will tell, but we are encouraged. I’ll have to make more bread almost immediately, though, since her husband said it was delicious and polished off the rest of the loaf!

    Have not baked my own bread in a long time, but was curious to see if using non-GMO flour would be easier on my digestive system. I don’t have gluten intolerance, but bread does tend to make my tummy puffy. We’re on our second loaf, now, and I have noticed my tummy isn’t as “round” as usual. My jeans are definitely fitting better! The bread has a great flavor without being “strong,” perfect for toasting. I haven’t used it for sandwiches, yet. The consistency seems a little dry for sandwiches, but I’m going to play with the recipe to see if I can make a slightly more moist bread. Will continue to make my own bread using this flour, it really is delicious!
