This is a unique blend of two wheat flours- Turkey Red and White Sonora. Turkey Red is a strong winter wheat that's rich in protein with excellent baking qualities. White Sonora is a soft wheat with a rich, nutty flavor and creamy-gold color. These flours are heritage, organic, single-source products.

    So far, so good. Had the best pancakes in a long time this morning. About to make some bread…
    Had the multi grain cereal yesterday and found it yummy!
    This is the most gluten I have had in a long time; usually spreading out my doses so as to not reap any adversity…same with my wife. We are sincerely hoping we can be able to enjoy wheat based foods through SFM products.

    I’ve made several batches of bread with this flour using the method from a book about artisan bread in 5 minutes a day (because I just can’t get a handle on real sourdough starter – I’m trying). I have had trouble with wheat for several years now, but I’ve been able to digest this flour, it seems (still some histamine response). I confess I’ve been eating entire loaves in one sitting to make up for all those lost years. We also made our Thanksgiving pie crusts from this blend, because it was what we had on hand, and we *loved* them – flaky but with a substantial tooth and actual flavor in the crust. I think this is going to become a staple in our household.

    I made a batch of yeast bread with 90% of the bread blend and 10% wheat. It came out a bit stiffer than I prefer and the flavor was too strong. I made a second batch with 45% bread blend, 45% organic AP flour, and 10% wheat. This came out perfect and will be my go to blend in the future.

    I made hamburger buns from scratch with this bread flour and my family loved it. My husband said they tasted like something out of a high-end restaurant. The hamburger buns freeze well too. I have a gluten sensitivity and hate gluten-free bread. This is the only gluten I can eat without having a reaction. It’s great eating gluten hamburger buns again.

    I used this flour to make my very first loaf of sourdough bread, it turned out perfect. I ordered the 2.5 lb bag just to try it out and I wish I would have bought a bigger bag. I was able to get two nice sized loaves out of the small bag. I’m gluten sensitive but I don’t experience any digestive issues with this flour, I’m so glad to have real bread again (the gluten free stuff just doesn’t cut it).

    Fantastic product! I can hardly believe how delicious the bread is – how soft. In my bread machine, it makes the picture-perfect dough, just beautiful. Typically my final dough rise takes 30 minutes. This is ready in 20 minutes! and then raises more as it bakes. This is now my go-to flour brand!

    Arrived promptly and I was absolutely delighted with the result of using the Bread Flour! I used half and half with KA AP flour in my sourdough starter and it really woke the starter up! I couldn’t believe the difference that 1/4 cup of the Sunrise Bread Flour made in my starter. The texture of the bread was also incredible. So much lighter, yet great texture than my previous flour.
    And, when I had a question about what to use as their AP Flour… my email was answered immediately along with some tips and a recipe.

    Have not baked my own bread in a long time, but was curious to see if using non-GMO flour would be easier on my digestive system. I don’t have gluten intolerance, but bread does tend to make my tummy puffy. We’re on our second loaf, now, and I have noticed my tummy isn’t as “round” as usual. My jeans are definitely fitting better! The bread has a great flavor without being “strong,” perfect for toasting. I haven’t used it for sandwiches, yet. The consistency seems a little dry for sandwiches, but I’m going to play with the recipe to see if I can make a slightly more moist bread. Will continue to make my own bread using this flour, it really is delicious!

    I ordered this as an experiment, influenced by the reviewers with gluten intolerance who said they can tolerate bread made with this flour. My daughter has had to follow a gluten-free diet for several years now. Knowing how hard it is to give up homemade bread, I thought I’d buy a bag and make a loaf for her to try. I was impressed by the aroma and the way the dough handled; it was bouncy and springy to the touch even before any serious kneading. The finished loaf had a lovely even crumb and good moisture. My daughter reported that she was able to have a slice without the immediate discomfort she usually experiences. Time will tell, but we are encouraged. I’ll have to make more bread almost immediately, though, since her husband said it was delicious and polished off the rest of the loaf!

    Love this flour. I developed gluten sensitivity four years ago and was so sad to have to give up bread. All the gluten free flours are pretty much awful and I haven’t found a bread that I enjoyed. After hearing about heritage wheat I was a bit skeptical but tried it anyway. I had developed sensitivity to many food items so I had a really restricted diet and was so miserable. I have never had any issues With this flour so it is a lifesaver! We use this with the simple bread recipe on the website and it is delicious. Haven’t tried making sourdough yet but we will soon. Customer service is excellent – flour ships out quickly.

    Mixed this, white and pizza flour evenly for bread and cinnamon rolls. It was Beautiful soft and strong enough for a large loaded sandwich. Just made pumpkin bread with the 3 mixture and WOW. Still trying to determine if gluten is affecting me. Have been over eating because of missing bread and pastries. So no bloated feeling but gained a Pound.. Oh well

    I purchase the Bread Blend Flour and the Heritage Whole Wheat Flour. I’ve made two loaves of bread so far, using half whole wheat and half of the bread blend.     I haven’t made bread in a while because I am tired of dry crumbly bread with not much flavor. I tried your Heritage Bread Blend and I am back to baking bread for Thanksgiving again! The texture was even and fine and the slices held together for sandwiches. I had to leave home during the first rise so it rested for four hours. I was prepared for failure but the dough was as spongy and elastic as ever. I love your flour! After I finish my apple butter tomorrow I will test your pastry flour with fresh apple pie! Hopefully I will get a photo before it gets eaten.

    My gluten-sensitive husband is able to enjoy wheat bread again!!     Sunrise, your flour has moved my sourdough bread enthusiasm from Extreme to OFF the charts Crazed!! This was my 2nd time ordering, but first time purchasing your Bread Flour. It is rare that I find myself lacking in descriptive words being as I’m a content writer….until now!

    Since pictures speak much louder than words, I am attaching photos of my latest bread here! If it weren’t so cold there, I’d move next door to your mill!! Oh wait! My flour had only been milled for 3 days when I received it!! The aroma was outstanding!

    Fellow bread lovers, until you’ve tried to source “clean, nutritious” flours you may not appreciate the service Sunrise Flour Mill is doing for the health of those who find them. (I’m not affiliated with Sunrise in any way) – other than a new and very loyal customer!!

    A little realized factoid, roughly 65% of U.S. citizens have an inability to use or clear synthetic folic acid from their bodies. This can set up a host of health issues. Sunrise Flour Mill is one of only a few mills, that don’t enrich their flours with harmful synthetic ingredients.

    They have no need to because they don’t strip the vital and naturally occurring nutrients from their flours. The results are beautiful, healthy breads and more!!

    Wonderful flour! I can eat bread and cinnamon rolls again. I have a gluten intolerance and have been gluten free for 4 years. I tried a recipe on the website the first day and had a piece of the bread. Next day made cinnamon rolls and had one for 3 days. No problems. I am ordering more flour on Monday.     I love the bread flour. I have tried multiple recipes from regular loaves of bread to sweet rolls. I’ve even made southern dumplings with success. I’m sorry, but I’m not a picture taker. Perhaps if we’re able to gather at Thanksgiving, one of my children will snap a picture of hot rolls. You didn’t ask, but with an earlier shipment I purchased the pizza flour. That was the first good pizza we had since going GF!

    This has surely become my go-to bread flour. It makes a great loaf, either sourdough or yeasted, kneads up nicely, great gluten development. And, oh, by the way, the finished product also tastes great. There’s a look and smell that is not there in supermarket varieties, and it doesn’t hurt that when you look at the tag that says when it was milled, it was last week, not this year sometime, probably.

    Sunrise, your flour has moved my sourdough bread enthusiasm from Extreme to OFF the charts Crazed!! This was my 2nd time ordering, but first time purchasing your Bread Flour. It is rare that I find myself lacking in descriptive words being as I’m a content writer….until now!

    Since pictures speak much louder than words, I am attaching photos of my latest bread here! If it weren’t so cold there, I’d move next door to your mill!! Oh wait! My flour had only been milled for 3 days when I received it!! The aroma was outstanding!

    Fellow bread lovers, until you’ve tried to source “clean, nutritious” flours you may not appreciate the service Sunrise Flour Mill is doing for the health of those who find them. (I’m not affiliated with Sunrise in any way) – other than a new and very loyal customer!!

    A little realized factoid, roughly 65% of U.S. citizens have an inability to use or clear synthetic folic acid from their bodies. This can set up a host of health issues. Sunrise Flour Mill is one of only a few mills, that don’t enrich their flours with harmful synthetic ingredients.

    They have no need to because they don’t strip the vital and naturally occurring nutrients from their flours. The results are beautiful, healthy breads and more!!

    That was waffles for me this morning-with the Sunrise 7-grain Heritage Pancake Mix, that I loaded with blueberries and drizzled with melted butter.

    I haven’t made bread in a while because I am tired of dry crumbly bread with not much flavor. I tried your Heritage Bread Blend and I am back to baking bread for Thanksgiving again! The texture was even and fine and the slices held together for sandwiches. I had to leave home during the first rise so it rested for four hours. I was prepared for failure but the dough was as spongy and elastic as ever. I love your flour! After I finish my apple butter tomorrow I will test your pastry flour with fresh apple pie!     Love this flour. I developed gluten sensitivity four years ago and was so sad to have to give up bread. All the gluten free flours are pretty much awful and I haven’t found a bread that I enjoyed. After hearing about heritage wheat I was a bit skeptical but tried it anyway. I had developed sensitivity to many food items so I had a really restricted diet and was so miserable. I have never had any issues With this flour so it is a lifesaver! We use this with the simple bread recipe on the website and it is delicious. Haven’t tried making sourdough yet but we will soon. Customer service is excellent – flour ships out quickly.

    I ordered this as an experiment, influenced by the reviewers with gluten intolerance who said they can tolerate bread made with this flour. My daughter has had to follow a gluten-free diet for several years now. Knowing how hard it is to give up homemade bread, I thought I’d buy a bag and make a loaf for her to try. I was impressed by the aroma and the way the dough handled; it was bouncy and springy to the touch even before any serious kneading. The finished loaf had a lovely even crumb and good moisture. My daughter reported that she was able to have a slice without the immediate discomfort she usually experiences. Time will tell, but we are encouraged. I’ll have to make more bread almost immediately, though, since her husband said it was delicious and polished off the rest of the loaf!

    Have not baked my own bread in a long time, but was curious to see if using non-GMO flour would be easier on my digestive system. I don’t have gluten intolerance, but bread does tend to make my tummy puffy. We’re on our second loaf, now, and I have noticed my tummy isn’t as “round” as usual. My jeans are definitely fitting better! The bread has a great flavor without being “strong,” perfect for toasting. I haven’t used it for sandwiches, yet. The consistency seems a little dry for sandwiches, but I’m going to play with the recipe to see if I can make a slightly more moist bread. Will continue to make my own bread using this flour, it really is delicious!

    I purchased the Heritage Bread Blend as well as the Heritage Whole Wheat Blend. Have made 6 small loaves of bread mixing these two together. Very satisfied and my husband is loving it. Sorry I missed out on the free sourdough starter. Want to try it as well when it returns in stock.
