This is a unique blend of two wheat flours- Turkey Red and White Sonora. Turkey Red is a strong winter wheat that's rich in protein with excellent baking qualities. White Sonora is a soft wheat with a rich, nutty flavor and creamy-gold color. These flours are heritage, organic, single-source products.

I made waffles with the pancake/waffle mix, the basic sourdough bread recipe with the bread blend flour, french bread and banana bread with a mix of the bread blend and whole wheat flour. All have been delicious and I have not had any issues with the gluten!

This is a repeat purchase of this flour blend. I’m enjoying using it. I have made focaccia several times (excellent!) and today am trying my hand at Hot Cross Buns ….I expect them to be wonderful! I previously made a bread which was delicious as well.

Absolutely love the flavor! I’m a beginner and have been gluten free for almost 14 years now. The regular bread flour didn’t give me as bad of digestion issues I get with gluten in general ( due to the fermentation process I’m told. But I was still having side effects (headaches, body fatigue and aches and brain fog). I have not had headaches or any other symptoms since using this flour and the flavor is absolutely incomparable! Pricier than what I’ve been spending so I use it sparingly but you get what you pay for. Which is Quality! Totally worth it! One of the bags showed up with a small pinhole so it made quite the mess inside the box 🙁 but there wasn’t a lot of product lost

Products are fantastic but this is the second time a 10 lb bag of flour has burst during shipping. The last time they were very good about sending a replacement quickly (two 5 lb bags) but be aware this can happen.

They were light and fluffy, tasted delicious, and I was able to use my regular cinnamon roll recipe. I ate two of them, 1/2 at a time, spaced out throughout the day, but by evening I had my traditional gluten stomach ache and itchy skin. My dad is also gluten sensitive, and he did not have any rash or itching afterwards. I was sad to see my results. I may have been okay with one cinnamon roll, eating too, was too much wheat for me. For anyone that can tolerate this wheat, I would say go for it!

My loaf took far too long to get to the right internal temperature and didn't brown as I would have liked and was more moist than I prefer after it was removed from the oven and cooled. It rose well in the refrigerator and more in the oven, but there were not the air holes which I expect from a sourdough loaf.

I have been wheat-free for 17 years, and bread made from this flour did not cause stomach upset within 30 minutes like other wheat products do. This also worked well for banana bread, egg noodles, and pan fried pork. A lighter flour is needed for pastry, such as cream puffs.

If I mistakenly have a marinade that has wheat in it, I am in discomfort within 30 minutes of eating. I have not eaten regular bread in about 20 years. I made a loaf of bread with the Heritage Bread Blend and it came out beautiful with a nice crispy crust. I allowed myself two bites and then waited. No pain at all so the next day I ate a whole slice and was fine. The next day I made the families traditional Easter Bread that we haven't enjoyed in a long time. It came out amazing and we could all eat it!

I used the Heritage Bread Blend to make sourdough bread. My first time baking sourdough bread. Even though I did not knead it thoroughly, it turned out well. This sourdough bread will not last long. My husband and I ate two slices right away. The texture is dense - maybe from my not kneading it enough, but it was very moist and very delicious with more than store-bought level of soreness, and tastes "healthy". I will be baking this again before the week is out!

Okay!!! Full disclosure.. this is the first time I have made homemade bread, EVER. I am not a "baker" by any clear meaning of that word, but I love to cook. So.. I am gluten intolerant and my husband is on a strict low sodium diet. I have been buying Udi's GF ancient grain Omega Flax & Fiber bread and Food for Life GF eng muffins for me $$$ and the lowest sodium breads I can find for my husband (not easy). So not knowing how this was going to come out and the sodium issue, I went with.... * 10 oz of room temp purified water * 1/2 tsp of rosemary sea salt (That's all I had on hand for sea salt) I can only say, WHY haven't I been making my own bread all this time?! This is Delicious and Easy to Make!!! I don't eat a lot of bread, but I have not had any issues so far!!! I will surely be trying some other products.

I'm so happy with this flour! I ordered it to make a healthy sourdough/sandwich loaf for my husband. I'm technically gluten-intolerant, but I've heard that many GI people tolerate a clean sourdough so I wanted to put it to the test for myself. My first bake was a pizza dough with the flour (not fermented) and I experienced my typical gluten-reaction, but a little more mild than usual. I was disheartened for myself but I began a sourdough starter and my first loaf was not very sour. The subsequent loaves were more and more flavorful and, much to my happy surprise, bothered me less and less!! I've come to learn that a mature starter breaks down much of the irritating enzymes in wheat and releases more of the good-for-you nutrients. I can now enjoy REAL sourdough bread without pain! On top of that, I ran out of flour last week and had to buy my husband sandwich bread from the store. He told me a day or two later that it makes his throat feel scratchy and irritated. (It was even the fancy "healthy" kind!) Further proof to me that "mainstream" wheat is so toxic. I'm so grateful that we found this company!!! I decided to try Sunrise Mills Heritage flours (white and bread flour) to see if my sensitivity to wheat and gluten would be impacted. Typically, traditional store-bought or homemade breads with standard or even organic flours would create upper digestive issues with me, resulting in heartburn. So far, after consuming half of a homemade sourdough bread loaf made with Sunrise Mills Bread Flour (and with a starter that was fed Sunrise Mills white flour), I can report having no digestive upset. I wouldn’t understand why, but my sourdough bread made with Sunrise Mills has a better chew than the sourdough loaves I’ve made in the past, also. I look forward to trying the SM pasta next!

Fantastic product! I can hardly believe how delicious the bread is - how soft. In my bread machine, it makes the picture-perfect dough, just beautiful. Typically my final dough rise takes 30 minutes. This is ready in 20 minutes! and then raises more as it bakes. This is now my go-to flour brand!

I made hamburger buns from scratch with this bread flour and my family loved it. My husband said they tasted like something out of a high-end restaurant. The hamburger buns freeze well too. I have a gluten sensitivity and hate gluten-free bread. This is the only gluten I can eat without having a reaction. It's great eating gluten hamburger buns again.

    I have been gluten intolerant for a long time. I did a lot of trial and error with flours because wheat is so vital with good nutrients and this has been the best out of all of them.     My wife’s health is very delicate, and Sunrise Heritage Flour makes it so easy take care of dietary needs without sacrificing the taste and quality. All the other celiac friendly flours out there are brittle and lack the integrity of real wheat flour. Sunrise, on the other hand, is real wheat flour but doesn’t pose the health risks, as the others. Long story, my wife is healthier and happier with Sunrise. We hope you stay around for a long time.

    I have a gluten intolerance and have not been able to eat any gluten products for the last 22 years! How fun to enjoy your flour products without any issues!     The product is amazing. But our product arrived with a hole in the bottom of the bag at the folded seam and flour was all over all the product in the box. Had a little clean up to do and wonder on the freshness of the flour if it has a seam break.

    I began using the Heritage Bread Flour last year to make sourdough bread. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I stuck with it. I bake a loaf weekly and my husband loves it. Recently, I was not able to make a loaf and I purchased on from the store. This was our regular brand before I started baking bread. My husband commented the brand we had been eating for years had NO FLAVOR. I immediately started another batch and within days we were eating Heritage Bread Flour sourdough bread again. I’ve experimented also combining bread flour with wheat or rye flour. The bread flour is very versatile.

    Absolutely love the flavor! I’m a beginner and have been gluten free for almost 14 years now. The regular bread flour didn’t give me as bad of digestion issues I get with gluten in general ( due to the fermentation process I’m told. But I was still having side effects (headaches, body fatigue and aches and brain fog). I have not had headaches or any other symptoms since using this flour and the flavor is absolutely incomparable! Pricier than what I’ve been spending so I use it sparingly but you get what you pay for. Which is Quality! Totally worth it! One of the bags showed up with a small pinhole so it made quite the mess inside the box 🙁 but there wasn’t a lot of product lost

    This is a really great flour and I love it…mostly the fact that I know it isn’t from harmful GMO grain! I use a bread machine to mix the dough then bake it in the oven because in my opinion, the machine’s baking cycle ruined the loaf–harder and not as appealing. I’m a total newbie bread baker so I’m sure there’s tricks I don’t know…but how do I make the loaf lighter and fluffier on the inside?

    I use this along with the Sunrise Heritage wheat to make my weekly bread in my bread machine.
    I also use it for making other bread varieties. While we typically don’t have issues with gluten, I am concerned about GMO concerns of other companies’ flour. Sunrise flour is creates the best flour.
    I’d love to see more recipe varieties using Sunrise flour in bread machines since I don’t always have extra time.

    I used this flour to feed a sourdough starter, which appeared to respond well. But when I used the starter to bake a loaf using methods I have used with other (more typical, gluten) flours, the bread was much more dense than it was with the other flours. I was disappointed, and will not buy this flour again.

    I’m very allergic to wheat, so when I found this flour I had to try it and risk the side effects.     Later in life I developed a gluten sensitivity. After many years of missing traditional foods, fried bread dough, etc I was resigned to the fact that gluten free flour and products was going to be my life. PS – they do not yet taste as good.

    Anyways a good friend of mine told me about the Sunrise Flour, especially when combined with diastatic malt powder from King Arthur. Now I am having pies, bread (especially fried bread dough), pretzels, pizza and all of the other good foods that come from regular gluten containing flour.

    Dealing with Sunrise is easy and quick. I would strongly recommend their flours for anybody who is missing out on food made with conventional (non gluten free) flours.

    My wife’s health is very delicate, especially when it comes to her dietary intake. She is extremely happy with Sunrise flour. As long as she is doing well, I am at peace. I must say that I love this flour too. It looks, feels, and tastes like regular flour. It’s not brittle or chalky.     I have been using Sunrise flours and grains for nearly a year with no gut issues (I have Hoshimoto’s and had been gluten free for 5+ years).     I was so excited when I got my order of your bread flour and wheat flour. The first thing I did was make some cinnamon rolls. They were light and fluffy, tasted delicious, and I was able to use my regular cinnamon roll recipe. I ate two of them, 1/2 at a time, spaced out throughout the day, but by evening I had my traditional gluten stomach ache and itchy skin. My dad is also gluten sensitive, and he did not have any rash or itching afterwards. I was sad to see my results. I may have been okay with one cinnamon roll, eating too, was too much wheat for me. For anyone that can tolerate this wheat, I would say go for it!

    This flour produces beautiful loaves consistently in my bread machine. I do find it easier to digest than bread made with King Arthur bread flour from my local store. I used to add extra gluten to get a lighter loaf but with this flour I don’t feel the need. Here are pictures of loaves made with Sunrise bread flour, with and without gluten.

    I had to stop eating wheat because it just didn’t agree with me and gluten free breads are just horrible. Then I took a sourdough class where it was explained that cold fermenting the dough breaks down the gluten, among other benefits. Then I found Sunrise Flour and I feel even better about eating my own bread now. It truly is easier to digest and I don’t have the problems that I had previously. It is easy now to avoid breads, etc., at restaurants because I am not feeling deprived and my bread is always better than theirs. Sunrise flour is much softer than other flours so you notice the difference right away – even comparing to organic flours. I enjoy making a regular sourdough loaf with the SFM bread flour, sourdough pizza or focaccia with the pizza flour, and I use the white flour if I want to make muffins or biscuits or cookies. I know I’m getting gluten; however, if I modify my consumption, I generally don’t have any problems.

    I used this product with the sourdough starter you sent me. My dough was very sticky – I followed the recipe you sent exactly and started the oven hot and then turned the temp down. My loaf took far too long to get to the right internal temperature and didn’t brown as I would have liked and was more moist than I prefer after it was removed from the oven and cooled. It rose well in the refrigerator and more in the oven, but there were not the air holes which I expect from a sourdough loaf.
