Dough seems smoother, less elastic and hence easier to form into loaf shape , bread rose more than any flour I’ve used before, with only fine-grained bubbles. flavor is different and pleasant. In light of this country’s current situation and my inability to find flour in my local community, I came across Sunrise Flour Mill. In a panic, I ordered 20 pounds but with the amount of baking I’ve been doing, I’ve no doubt I will not have a problem using it all. Let me tell you – it’s fabulous flour. Most people think flour is tasteless, but I think that’s only true of commercially available flours. These flours taste delicious! I made homemade pizza the other day with this flour and it was awesome! Highly recommend and just placed another order and this time will be trying the actual pizza flour. This flour is different than the flour on store shelves which I do not recommend. If making bread I found that I do not need as much liquid. Adjust your recipe as needed. Sunrise has a good recipe for whole wheat flour. I followed that using only Heritage white. Bread turned out with a chewy crust and moist inside. I do not have celiac but want to eat healthy.

Recently discovered SunRise Flour Mill and am so glad I did! Hubby is gluten intolerant and we have missed eating “real” bread, cookies, cake, etc. The gluten free substitutions are not acceptable in either flavor or texture. We started out with a small bag of the heritage flour, made a loaf of bread that was incredibly good and didn’t cause any adverse reactions at all. The flour is a bit expensive, but worth every penny!

Love this flour. I developed gluten sensitivity four years ago and was so sad to have to give up bread. All the gluten free flours are pretty much awful and I haven’t found a bread that I enjoyed. I was skeptical only because wheat does such a number on me. Bought Sunrise Flour with excitement to its claims. The day the flour arrived I made two loaves of zucchini bread. I have been gluten free for almost ten years. Before discovering my gluten sensitivity, I had experienced extreme gas, stomach pain, and rarely, vomiting. Therefore, when I read about Sunrise flour, I approached with extreme caution. I first tried it in a pie, thinking it wouldn’t be that much flour. After two days and two pieces, I was experiencing no unwanted symptoms. Next, I breaded fish with the flour. Again, everything seemed fine. So, as a final test, I made hot rolls. They were the most beautiful rolls I had ever made and tasted delicious! Throwing caution to the wind, I ate four hot rolls that evening. Oh, they were so much better than the gluten free ones! After all of this, I am still fine with no stomach pain, gas, or vomiting! Thanksgiving this year will be wonderful as I can enjoy homemade chicken and noodles, hot rolls, and pie with tasty crust, not cardboard! I am thrilled with this flour product!

While traveling to Italy my husband experienced none of the bad effects of wheat that he has had for years in the States. This has become my favorite AP flour. I feed my sourdough starter with it and it’s lively and happy with it. And everything I bake with it tastes great. I do not have digestive issues, but a friend does and although she was cautious and skeptical about whether she’d spend the next two days in discomfort after homemade pasta, she had no ill effects as from commercial flour.
That and a nickel will get you a cup of coffee at Wall Drug, but count it toward your non-scientific testimonials on the benefits of heritage varieties.

However, I discovered that although this flour performs like conventional flour when baking, I am far more tolerant of it than commercial flour. So far, I have made dinner rolls and apple strudel to rave reviews. I plan on using it for pie crusts and other baked goods where the flour is not the main ingredient but still could benefit from the elasticity not found in gluten-free blends.

It’s been 5 years since my husband developed an allergy to wheat products. I gave this flour a try because, well, why not! I have baked yeast bread, pizza, dinner rolls, pie crust and wheat bread with the various flours from Sunrise Flour Mill and he has eaten it all with no problem! And this flour gives the breads an added flavor boost as well. I highly recommend!!

I use this flour to feed my sourdough starter. It has made the best sourdough starter ever! I usually make my sourdough bread with 2 parts Heritage Bread Blend to 1 part Heritage Whole Wheat four. The attached photo is all Heritage Bread Blend. The resulting crumb is unbelievably beautiful and the flavor is spectacular! I will never use any other brand flour.

I give this flour 10 stars! It is delicious! I’ve been a gluten free baker for 9 years struggling to get the right performance from GF flours and only one has truly come thru. The flour blends from GFJules.
This is my first loaf of REAL bread and I was so excited to give this flour a test that I made every beginner’s mistake possible but was able to correct them along the way. It came our perfect. Yay!!!
So far, this flour has not caused any symptomatic flare-ups in either me or my wife (joint pain, skin soreness, brain fog, lethargy, bloating, gas, etc….). We are not celiac but she’s more sensitive than I to gluten but so far so good (fingers crossed).
It’s sooooo great to FINALLY enjoy bread and baked goods again that last longer than three days before starting to either turn to sand or breads that must be frozen the next day and then toasted – yuck.
The texture (crumb and chew) and rise that this flour produces in simple recipes is awesome!
I’m now quite anxious to try the other Sunrise flours.

I loved working with this dough and eating the resulting loaves of bread. Everything was different in a good and satisfying way. My mother used to say “Knead until the dough is as smooth as a baby’s bottom.” I never achieved that with other flours, but I have now, thinking, “So that’s what Momma meant.” In baking, the color was a glorious deep golden/reddish brown. The smell and taste were fantastic. No one in my house is gluten intolerant, but this is what real bread from real flour is like. Loved it!

As of 3 weeks ago I had never baked anything from scratch before. Ever. I thoroughly enjoyed cooking but never got into baking. My wife is gluten sensitive and we gave up hope on finding a good gluten free bread.
After researching sourdough bread baking techniques, I found Sunrise Heritage flours and realized they could be an option to try for gluten sensitivity.
On Thanksgiving my wife showed me how to make lefse and she was able to enjoy her first “real” piece of lefse in years using the Sunrise Heritage white flour. I then baked buns for Thanksgiving and it was a joy to watch my wife take that first “real” bite of a home-baked bun with flour in several years.
Finally, I made the leap with sourdough. After making my own starter with your flour, my first two loaves came out of the oven this morning. It was so fun to watch my two kids share a piece of warm baked bread with my wife. This has been a rewarding few weeks of baking and I know it would not be as good without having found Sunrise. Thank you!

I just bought 45 pounds of this wonderful flour. It makes the best sourdough bread, starter and delicious cookies! This is the only flour I use. I also get the wheat flour. Love them both!

Pleased with the results. First recipe tried was buttermilk biscuits. Browned up nicely(an issue with other gf/1 for 1 flours. The inside was light and moist. I give it a thumbs-up so far.

I first tried Sunrise products as a “COVID treat” but he Heritage White Flour has become a household staple. My pizza dough and rolls are so much more scrumptious with this flour. All dough is lighter, never clumps during gravy making AND zero acid reflux even if we eat the baked goods in the evening. I will never use any other flour.

My yeast breads have never turned out so beautiful, and the texture and flavor are waaay better than other top grocery store brands. I don’t have a problem with gluten, but a couple of my friends eat my breads and tell me they have no digestion issues. I just bought a HUGE bag that should last me thru covid!

I am so excited to discover Sunrise flour. My daughter is gluten free because she turns into a very mean monster if she eats any gluten. Even a tiny bit. I had heard that that was probably due to the way we grow and poison our wheat in the US. A year ago, we decided to test that theory on a 2 week trip to Europe. Sure enough, she tolerated everything made there just fine. I have been buying an organic French flour for special occasion baking. So thrilled that I have a new domestic source. Yippee.
