This flour, milled from organic Turkey Red Heritage Wheat Berries, is a fine, dazzlingly white all purpose flour. The color comes from the natural white color of the wheat's endosperm, not from bleaching or bromating. Because this is a heritage wheat, it contains a type of gluten that many people with gluten intolerance find to be more digestible. It works exceptionally well for everything – bread, pastries, cookies, cakes, pie crust, pasta, pizza crust – a truly all purpose flour.

I made a batch of banana bread pancakes using 2/3 of this all-purpose flour and 1/3 of their 7-grain pancake mix for the additional grains. Came out absolutely delicious - just like my Aunt Rita’s banana bread recipe! (Btw, the picture below came out sideways for some reason.)

A whole new world has opened up filled with the possibility of bread, pies and cakes. Due to damage from chemotherapy I haven’t been able to eat wheat for 11 years. I decided to give your Heritage White Flour a try and made some biscuits. They were delicious and mostly importantly, I had no discomfort at all! I can’t wait to make some bread and to have an honest to goodness piece of toast.

Love your flours! I have the bread flour, whole wheat and all purpose. The flavor of my baked goods, especially breads, has noticeably improved. I also appreciate the ease of ordering on line. I have a small bakery and have always used King Arthur AP flour. However, I baked a cupcake order with this flour and the end result was a much better cupcake! Tge texture was soft, yet firm enough to hold up under buttercream decorations and it yielded the perfect crumb. I have just placed another order for this flour and will continue using it in my business.

I have been really anxious to try a wheat flour that would, hopefully, not make me sick. I have been wheat intolerant for most of my life, known about it for 30 years and total gluten intolerant for over 10. I made this cake for my birthday this month and have had some symptoms but really very little. A bite of something used to create brain fog, joint pain and could send me to bed for days. The few, mild symptoms I had could have easily been from the sugar, the eggs or the chocolate. Mostly, I ate this flour and still feel human instead of like an alien. Next time I will try something with less allergens to see how often I can eat this. I am SO grateful to you all for making this available!

I am so glad I found Sunrise Flour Mill! I have been GF for a few years now but find I can eat items made with this flour if I don't over-do. I have missed homemade biscuits & making yeast bread that I get to enjoy as well as my family. Yum! This is a fairly soft wheat that is a bit more dense than my regular White Lily flour but it has twice the flavor than other flours I have tried. I made several loaves of Cinnamon Twist Yeast Bread for holiday gifts. They were a huge hit!

Using the Sunrise Mill wheat flour we were able to reintroduce gluten into our family. My wife has a gluten intolerance that affects arthritis and breathing, specifically sleep apnea. We tried a couple of different things with the Sunrise Mill flour and she was able to tolerate it. It's a delicious flour and cooks up nicely. It has a very nice flavor and handles nicely. We have made pie and bread and cookies and pasta with the flour. The service from the folks at Sunrise Mill has been excellent. I highly recommend it.

I can't even begin to express my joy and disbelief! After years of suffering horrific effects from gluten, I was 7 years gluten free. My daughter came home from college before Thanksgiving and she was in pain...constantly crying...stomach cramps...she was miserable. We had two months to figure it out. She saw a gastroenterologist and got a ton of testing. And I started baking her sunrise bread. I saw an ad, read the testimony of the owners and thought “let’s start with the quality of our flour”. I have not been able to eat any wheat products for many years and I am able to digest this flour with no side effects. I’ve baked cookies , made yeast bread and used it in batters and flouring meats for deep frying and sautéing. I now believe that it is the chemicals and GMOs that my system could no longer tolerate in store bought flours and bakery products. I’m 67 and have been baking all my life. I stopped years ago and now look forward to making my favorite foods again. I have this flour, the whole wheat and the bread flour and love all 3. Lifesaver!❤️

The shipping was fast and customer service is fantastic. An actual person answers the phone and will answer any questions you have. Along with the bread flour, this makes a gorgeous sourdough bread. As for gluten intolerance, I feel that I still react and can't go crazy eating lots of goods baked with this flour. I can eat a little bit a day. It upsets my digestion just as ordinary flour does.

I decided to try Sunrise Mills Heritage flours (white and bread flour) to see if my sensitivity to wheat and gluten would be impacted. Typically, traditional store-bought or homemade breads with standard or even organic flours would create upper digestive issues with me, resulting in heartburn. So far, after consuming half of a homemade sourdough bread loaf made with Sunrise Mills Bread Flour (and with a starter that was fed Sunrise Mills white flour), I can report having no digestive upset. I wouldn’t understand why, but my sourdough bread made with Sunrise Mills has a better chew than the sourdough loaves I’ve made in the past, also. I look forward to trying the SM pasta next!

I have a friend from Sweden who struggled with her baking here in the USA. Her belief is that the flour is dead. I hadn’t thought much about it until I read about Sunrise Flour Mill’s products. Upon arrival of my order I prepared and baked a loaf of bread. It was delicious. Crusty on the outside, soft and “alive” inside. This will be my choice of flour going forward. Thank you!

I give this flour 10 stars! It is delicious! I've been a gluten free baker for 9 years struggling to get the right performance from GF flours and only one has truly come thru. The flour blends from GFJules. This is my first loaf of REAL bread and I was so excited to give this flour a test that I made every beginner's mistake possible but was able to correct them along the way. It came our perfect. Yay!!! So far, this flour has not caused any symptomatic flare-ups in either me or my wife (joint pain, skin soreness, brain fog, lethargy, bloating, gas, etc....). We are not celiac but she's more sensitive than I to gluten but so far so good (fingers crossed). It's sooooo great to FINALLY enjoy bread and baked goods again that last longer than three days before starting to either turn to sand or breads that must be frozen the next day and then toasted - yuck. The texture (crumb and chew) and rise that this flour produces in simple recipes is awesome! I'm now quite anxious to try the other Sunrise flours. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS AMAZING PRODUCT!

So yum ...used my no knead 18hrs fermented recipe. .we sliced it and froze it ..thaw out on counter just as fresh as day made .very rustic taste but like this best. Also used this flour to make sugar free cinnamon rolls ...wow they were amazing ..and froze and thawed well too. My hubby and I are keto lifestyle for 3 yrs and we ate this bread in moderation and not often and we still maintained our weight, energy levels etc. this is THE best thank you Marty and Darrold for your efforts for all of us.

After recovering from the shock of flour-less supermarket shelves, I searched the web for online mills of good repute. How lucky I was to find Sunrise Flour Mill! The numerous very positive reviews posted on your site convinced me to order a hefty 25 pound bag of all-purpose flour, leaving me assured that I'd still be baking during these crazy times.     My granddaughter and I have been denied wheat flour for at least seven years. I use a good quality gluten free flour for other things, but I just can’t get good results with yeast recipes. I saw Heritage Wheat Flour advertised on Facebook and decided to try it.The first thing I tried making was an old recipe for Batter Buns. I used to make these for dinner rolls. The recipe requires no kneading, which is good, since I have arthritis in my hands. The rolls turned out absolutely delicious and beautiful! I made 18 and thought there would be a lot go to waste. There are only 3 of us. Nope! They were all eaten. No one had any adverse effect from the wheat. I plan to purchase more flour! I will need more because my bread recipes call for 6 cups of flour! Thank you for making and selling their wonderful flour!

    I made a batch of banana bread pancakes using 2/3 of this all-purpose flour and 1/3 of the 7-grain pancake mix for the additional grains. Came out absolutely delicious – just like my Aunt Rita’s banana bread recipe! None of these products give me digestive problems like almost all other wheat products do either. I have yet to try the rye flour yet though, because of FODMAP issues.

    Our family has been Paleo for the last 8 years. My kids and I have several food sensitivities, and while we are grateful that we found a diet that keeps us healthier and happier, we still remember flour-based treats and have missed them.

    We’ve probably tried every alternative flour out there (einkorn, cassava, various nut flours, etc), but we’ve never found some thing that made us feel great, or that was close enough to the recipes we remember to make it worth it.

    After all of our previous failures, I almost didn’t try Sunrise flour. Imagine my surprise when it actually worked! Our entire family can eat low-sugar baked goods made with this flour with no issues. And that isn’t after just a try or two, this is after a few months of use! Thank you for making this product!!

    I am gluten intolerant, but saw other great reviews of this flour, so I decided to give it a try. I made a loaf of rustic bread yesterday. It is beautiful! Better yet, I can actually eat it without any negative reactions. Game changer! It is so very expensive though. I’m not saying it is over-priced or not worth it. I will be using it sparingly, but am so grateful for this product. I’ll be sharing the bread with a gluten intolerant friend who is excited about trying it, too.

    I purchased the heritage white flour and the bread flour blend. I have a gluten sensitivity and wanted to give these a try.     I am very pleased with this flour. The bread I made was super amazing, everyone raved how delicious it was, crusty crust, moist and soft inside. This flour feels different and works up beautifully.
    On yes one piece called for another, nothing left to take a picture of. just loved that.
    The strange thing I noticed was in washing the bowl the dough washed out easily not sticky.

    This flour is amazing! I cannot sing it’s praises enough. As a family, we have been trying to get away from store bought bread for a while. I found a great rustic bread recipe (only has 4 ingredients) but all the flours I tried just didn’t make me love it. I made the same bread with this flour and it’s was amazing. My entire family loved it. We have several gluten sensitive family members and none of them had a reaction. They were finally able to enjoy bread again! I also made banana nut bread and a cake using this flour and it was all so delicious. I’d highly recommend this flour to everyone.     I Love this flour and will continue to purchase it in the future, My only complaint is that when I removed the first 25 pound bag from the shipping box, the seal at the end of the bag was not glued properly and I lost several cups of flour all over the place.     I used to be a bread baker. I have been off wheat for over ten years due to medical reasons. When I heard about your heritage wheat and it’s ease of digestion, I just had to give it a try. The result is amazing! I’ve never had dough lift so high and such lightness in the end product. I made two recipes with one dough and found both to be of superb quality.     I have a small bakery and have always used King Arthur AP flour. However, I baked a cupcake order with this flour and the end result was a much better cupcake!     I have been really anxious to try a wheat flour that would, hopefully, not make me sick. I have been wheat intolerant for most of my life, known about it for 30 years and total gluten intolerant for over 10. I made this cake for my birthday this month and have had some symptoms but really very little. A bite of something used to create brain fog, joint pain and could send me to bed for days. The few, mild symptoms I had could have easily been from the sugar, the eggs or the chocolate. Mostly, I ate this flour and still feel human instead of like an alien. Next time I will try something with less allergens to see how often I can eat this. I am SO grateful to you all for making this available!

    I am so glad I found Sunrise Flour Mill! I have been GF for a few years now but find I can eat items made with this flour if I don’t over-do. I have missed homemade biscuits & making yeast bread that I get to enjoy as well as my family. Yum!
    This is a fairly soft wheat that is a bit more dense than my regular White Lily flour but it has twice the flavor than other flours I have tried. I made several loaves of Cinnamon Twist Yeast Bread for holiday gifts. They were a huge hit!

    I have a sensitivity to gluten, it causes inflammation and body aches. I have been gluten free for 6 years with occasional decisions to have that bagel or pasta even though I know I am going to hurt the next day. I made a loaf of bread with the Heritage White flour and ate the whole thing in two days, it was that good. Since then, I have had only very minor aches in my hips, nothing like I expected. I won’t be making bread and pasta part of my regular diet, but I know I can occasionally indulge if I really want to. My sister also has a sensitivity to gluten, she gets migraines. She too had very little reaction to the bread made with the Heritage White flour.

    Using the Sunrise Mill wheat flour we were able to reintroduce gluten into our family. My wife has a gluten intolerance that affects arthritis and breathing, specifically sleep apnea. We tried a couple of different things with the Sunrise Mill flour and she was able to tolerate it. It’s a delicious flour and cooks up nicely. It has a very nice flavor and handles nicely. We have made pie and bread and cookies and pasta with the flour. The service from the folks at Sunrise Mill has been excellent. I highly recommend it.

    I have a gluten intolerance and everybody and my family was so sick of me making Gluten free versions of things that had xantham gum and rice/oat flour that to me tasted alright but to them apparently tasted awful. When I Started using the Heritage flour and I never got a single complaint ever again. The flour works really well with my sensitive gut as long as I don’t go too overboard and eat tons and tons of bread. Even if I do go a little crazy and eat a ton of Brad are cookies that I make with this flower, I don’t get the horrible acid reflux that I always get and I accidentally ate regular processed flour . I only get a little bit of bloating which is so manageable . I would recommend to anybody who has a gluten intolerance because it is seriously LIFE CHANGING. My house is always filled with the smell of freshly baked bread and I can finally enjoy all the things that I missed out on for so many years .

    I’ve been eating gluten free for a few years (3) due to an inability to digest wheat. i have tried several types of wheat flour but always had to go back to gluten free. I thought I would take a chance and try this flour as I love to bake and eat Irish soda bread. I am sooo happy.     This flour is my go to flour now for all my baking needs. Right now I am mainly focusing on the sourdough bread that is amazing, using the recipe provided by Sunrise Flour Mill. My family loves this bread so I am making two loaves a week and I don’t buy other breads. I am now freezing a part, and the bread is delicious even out of the freezer. My friends are now envious.     I can’t even begin to express my joy and disbelief! After years of suffering horrific effects from gluten, I was 7 years gluten free. We all know it: cardboard bread, difficulty eating out, constant fear of exposure. My daughter and I both read the book Eat Wheat by Dr. John Doullard and with trepidation, followed most of his protocols and found Sunrise Heritage Wheat. Life Changing!     Excellent all purpose flour! I have been gluten free for 8 years. I always knew Heritage flour was supposed to be good for gluten intolerance but never tried it instead I tried to master the gluten-free recipes which never tasted worth the effort. I’m writing this after spending a week making pasta, bread, muffins and cookies with this flour. I may gain 10 pounds but I have no gluten side effects at all! Give it and all their flours a try you will be happy eating delicious food instead of settling for okay.

    It was not until I used the white flour for the main flour in my recipe that I got the perfect texture, much-improved taste and the most wonderful Swedish Rye bread on earth. I’m sure it was the combination of all three flours that made it so.
    These all would get 5s instead of 4s if the price for all three could be sold together for less than they do individually. I know about profit margins and l am quite certain the company is trying to keep the prices down. It is difficult to pass by the 5# flour at the store for $1.49 when you are paying $20 for that much PLUS postage. But trust me…..the final product is worth it.

    My daughter came home from college before Thanksgiving and she was in pain…constantly crying…stomach cramps…she was miserable. We had two months to figure it out. She saw a gastroenterologist and got a ton of testing. And I started baking her sunrise bread. I saw an ad, read the testimony of the owners and thought “let’s start with the quality of our flour”.     I have not been able to eat any wheat products for many years and I am able to digest this flour with no side effects. I’ve baked cookies , made yeast bread and used it in batters and flouring meats for deep frying and sautéing. I now believe that it is the chemicals and GMOs that my system could no longer tolerate in store bought flours and bakery products. I’m 67 and have been baking all my life.     WOW! After nine years of struggling with gluten free baking I actually got pretty good at it and found an excellent blend just before my wife discovered this. NOW, I’m going crazy with this flour. I can’t bake enough. FINALLY, a tolerable flour that’s really flour and acts like it should! AND, no stale, sandy texture after three days. Real cinnamon rolls! Yay!!!

    I can’t thank the founders and you folks at Sunrise Flour Mills enough for this amazing product and can hardly wait to try ALL your other flours. Having never done so before, it is so much fun to knead and actually feel the dough coming together under my hands.

    I’m anxious to try the substitute for (Tipo) 00 flour for pizza dough. Now, that will be nirvana. I have a second plan for that 00 flour that I hope will work. I’ll let you know what that is when I use it.

    As a gluten sensitive person, I have gotten used to just not being able to find good substitutes for certain things.     I decided to try Sunrise Mills Heritage flours (white and bread flour) to see if my sensitivity to wheat and gluten would be impacted. Typically, traditional store-bought or homemade breads with standard or even organic flours would create upper digestive issues with me, resulting in heartburn. So far, after consuming half of a homemade sourdough bread loaf made with Sunrise Mills Bread Flour (and with a starter that was fed Sunrise Mills white flour), I can report having no digestive upset. I wouldn’t understand why, but my sourdough bread made with Sunrise Mills has a better chew than the sourdough loaves I’ve made in the past, also.
    I look forward to trying the SM pasta next!

    After 10 years of being gluten-intolerant (a condition that seems to get worse every year), this year I was actually able to enjoy my mom’s lefse at Christmas, thanks to Sunrise Flour Mill. This might seem like an insignificant event to most of you, but for me it was everything. Considering I stuffed as much lefse into my face as was humanly possible, with no apparent after-effects, I think I can now say with confidence that my digestive system can handle this flour – WHICH IS NOTHING SHORT OF A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.     So far I’ve made 3 products. Two were baked goods and the flour seemed slightly too heavy, but I think I should have sifted it and would have had a better outcome. Then I made egg and flour dumplings with the flour sifted only with a wire wisk and the dumplings were light and fluffy – perfect for the chicken soup. I can’t wait to experiment with other recipes. The best news is that I am not suffering the horrible joint and muscle inflammation that I do from the GMO wheat! This product is a God-send!

    I have lived with a gluten issues for years and this product has been life altering. I tried the heritage flour at the recommendation of a family member and absolutely no issues, finally able to eat with the rest of the family eats. No more tasteless, unappealing gluten free flour and feeling as if I would need to suffer for the rest of my life. I recently made a family Christmas cookie and banana bread recipe with your heritage flour and I had absolutely no issues and everyone commented on how flavorful and delicious they were. I’m never turning back.. ..I love to bake but have stopped due to making one recipe for me and one for everyone else.

    I ordered the heritage white flour, bread flour and pancake mix my first order and crossed my fingers I would not have any issues.     I am so excited to discover Sunrise flour. My daughter is gluten free because she turns into a very mean monster if she eats any gluten. Even a tiny bit. I had heard that that was probably due to the way we grow and poison our wheat in the US. A year ago, we decided to test that theory on a 2 week trip to Europe. Sure enough, she tolerated everything made there just fine. I have been buying an organic French flour for special occasion baking. So thrilled that I have a new domestic source. Yippee.

    I first tried Sunrise products as a “COVID treat” but he Heritage White Flour has become a household staple. My pizza dough and rolls are so much more scrumptious with this flour.     As of 3 weeks ago I had never baked anything from scratch before. Ever. I thoroughly enjoyed cooking but never got into baking. My wife is gluten sensitive and we gave up hope on finding a good gluten free bread.

    After researching sourdough bread baking techniques, I found Sunrise Heritage flours and realized they could be an option to try for gluten sensitivity.

    On Thanksgiving my wife showed me how to make lefse and she was able to enjoy her first “real” piece of lefse in years using the Sunrise Heritage white flour. I then baked buns for Thanksgiving and it was a joy to watch my wife take that first “real” bite of a home-baked bun with flour in several years.

    Finally, I made the leap with sourdough. After making my own starter with your flour, my first two loaves came out of the oven this morning. It was so fun to watch my two kids share a piece of warm baked bread with my wife. This has been a rewarding few weeks of baking and I know it would not be as good without having found Sunrise.     I loved working with this dough and eating the resulting loaves of bread. Everything was different in a good and satisfying way. My mother used to say “Knead until the dough is as smooth as a baby’s bottom.” I never achieved that with other flours, but I have now, thinking, “So that’s what Momma meant.” In baking, the color was a glorious deep golden/reddish brown. The smell and taste were fantastic. No one in my house is gluten intolerant, but this is what real bread from real flour is like. Loved it!

    I give this flour 10 stars! It is delicious! I’ve been a gluten free baker for 9 years struggling to get the right performance from GF flours and only one has truly come thru. The flour blends from GFJules.

    This is my first loaf of REAL bread and I was so excited to give this flour a test that I made every beginner’s mistake possible but was able to correct them along the way. It came our perfect. Yay!!!

    So far, this flour has not caused any symptomatic flare-ups in either me or my wife (joint pain, skin soreness, brain fog, lethargy, bloating, gas, etc….). We are not celiac but she’s more sensitive than I to gluten but so far so good (fingers crossed).

    It’s sooooo great to FINALLY enjoy bread and baked goods again that last longer than three days before starting to either turn to sand or breads that must be frozen the next day and then toasted – yuck.

    The texture (crumb and chew) and rise that this flour produces in simple recipes is awesome!

    I’m now quite anxious to try the other Sunrise flours.

    I was skeptical of the other testimonies claiming better tolerance for non-celiacs with gluten sensitivity. However, I discovered that although this flour performs like conventional flour when baking, I am far more tolerant of it than commercial flour. So far, I have made dinner rolls and apple strudel to rave reviews. I plan on using it for pie crusts and other baked goods where the flour is not the main ingredient but still could benefit from the elasticity not found in gluten-free blends.

    This has become my favorite AP flour. I feed my sourdough starter with it and it’s lively and happy with it. And everything I bake with it tastes great. I do not have digestive issues, but a friend does and although she was cautious and skeptical about whether she’d spend the next two days in discomfort after homemade pasta, she had no ill effects as from commercial flour.
    That and a nickel will get you a cup of coffee at Wall Drug, but count it toward your non-scientific testimonials on the benefits of heritage varieties.
