About Heritage Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
Our organic whole wheat pastry flour is made from White Sonora wheat berries. It is a soft white spring wheat. It is milled in a proprietary Unifine high-velocity impact milling system, producing a super-fine, highly nutritious, 100% whole grain, single-source pastry flour. This whole wheat pastry flour has a lower protein percentage so it isn’t used for bread baking, but can be used to make other non-yeasted baked goods. Use our organic pastry flour in whole wheat muffins, cookies, pancakes, brownies, tortillas, biscuits, pies for added nutrition and flavor.
Many people with gluten intolerance find our Heritage Whole Wheat Pastry Flour more digestible than flours made with modern hybridized wheat. As we like to say, “It's not just the grain, it's the grind.”

What is Heritage wheat?
Heritage wheat was the predominant wheat grown in America up until the 1950’s. Many people find it more digestible than modern wheat. Its long deep root system allowed it to survive the Dust Bowl, and gave the Midwest its famous nickname “The Bread Basket”. Heritage wheat was a staple in every household. The history of it can be tracked to biblical times and has been responsible for nourishing generations. It was grown before the introduction of intensive scientific plant breeding.This wheat is experiencing a resurgence.

Sunrise Flour Mill provides an easy subscription service to order our products. Your subscription will automatically renew on a recurring basis at which time your credit card will be charged automatically for the subscription products until you cancel your subscription. Taxes and shipping fees may apply. You may cancel your subscription at any time, before your order ships, from the Subscriptions section of your account.
How to create a subscription
Simply find the products you want to order on subscription and select "Subscribe and save", then choose the frequency for delivery 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or 120 days. Finally add the product to your cart and proceed to checkout. You can add as many products as you like to your subscription.
How to manage your subscription
To manage your subscription login in to your Sunrise account and you will have tools to adjust, pause or cancel your subscriptions.

We ship our product using UPS. We offer UPS at checkout to give you the best value.

- Some orders that are under $60 will be delivered by UPS Surepost. This method will be determined by the size of the order, and the final destination during the shipping process. UPS will suggest to us the best method of delivery for the area.

Fantastic flour for my gluten intolerance
I use several varieties of this flour and have no discomfort like I do with regular processed flours. I use all my regular recipes with no adjustments and get the same or better results!

Awesome flour
I have been trying to perfect my lard pie crust recipe and this flour was the perfect missing piece. I have tried it for shortbread cookies, pie crust, and buttermilk biscuits and it is superb. I used the whole wheat pastry flour in my white chocolate with cranberries cookies with about half cup of regular flour because I had run out of regular flour. The cookies were delicious! I would definitely substitute the regular all purpose flour with whole wheat pastry flour again. Can’t wait to try the pastry flour on some of my other recipes.
