What is Heritage wheat?
Heritage wheat was the predominant wheat grown in America up until the 1950’s. Many people find it more digestible than modern wheat. Its long deep root system allowed it to survive the Dust Bowl, and gave the Midwest its famous nickname “The Bread Basket”. Heritage wheat was a staple in every household. The history of it can be tracked to biblical times and has been responsible for nourishing generations. It was grown before the introduction of intensive scientific plant breeding. This wheat is experiencing a resurgence.

Frequently aSKED QUESTIONS ?
What is Heritage Wheat, and how does it differ from modern wheat?
Heritage Wheat refers to pre-hybridized, pre-1950s wheat varieties that have not undergone the
intensive scientific plant breeding common in modern wheat. Many people find Heritage Wheat more nutritious, flavorful, and easier to digest compared to modern hybridized wheat.
Is Heritage Wheat gluten-free?
No, Heritage Wheat contains gluten. However, due to its unaltered gluten structure, many individuals with gluten sensitivities report finding it more digestible than modern wheat.
Where is your wheat grown?
Our wheat is cultivated on organic farms in Colorado and Arizona, ensuring high-quality and sustainable farming practices.
Does your flour contain any additives or undergo bleaching?
No, our flour is 100% organic, unbleached, non-bromated, and free from any artificial additives, preserving its natural nutrients and flavor.
Can I substitute Heritage Wheat flour for all-purpose flour in my recipes?
Yes, Heritage Wheat flour can be used as a one-to-one substitute for conventional all-purpose flour in most recipes. Its superfine grind produces loftier baked goods with greater volume than traditional
whole wheat flour.
What types of baked goods can I make with Heritage Wheat flour?
Heritage Wheat flour is versatile and suitable for a wide range of baked goods, including bread, pastries, cookies, cakes, pie crusts, pasta, and pizza crusts. Its superior flavor and texture enhance any recipe.
How should I store my flour to maintain its freshness?
It’s recommended to transfer the flour to a sealed container after purchase. For long-term storage, keeping it in a cool, dry place or refrigerating it can help maintain its freshness.

Berry Happy
The wheat berries were a birthday gift for my son to go along with a grain mill. The berries were very clean and nicely packaged. Our first attempt at fresh milled bread left something to be desired (due to user error, not berry quality) but the pasta we made the following day was excellent! My son loved his gift and plans to purchase more wheat berries soon.

White Sonora Wheat Berries
I have been purchasing the All Purpose white flour, bread flour, whole wheat flour for a few years now. However, I recently started milling my own grains. I had a bag of Turkey Red that I started making sandwich bread with and wanted to add in some Sonora wheat to the mix and I love the bread. I also started milling the berries a bit more coursely and made Cream of Wheat.. it was fantastic!! I am truly a fan of your wheat/flour blends. I also started making bread for the sisters that live down the street from me. They were certain they were gluten sensitive and yet they can eat the bread I make from the Sunrise flour I purchased. They were amazed and now I make them bread all the time. No more store bought "gluten free" bread from the store. Thank you so much for such great products. Susan

Love these berries!
I LOVE every product from Sunrise that I have purchased so far! The berries AND the flours are all so fresh! They have wonderful taste and have been a game changer for my sourdough!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sunrise products!

Love these Berries!
White Sonora is my favorite sift white wheat berry. From Sunrise, they were perfect. Exceptionally clean!

Excellent for Sprouts
I sprouted these wheat berries to use as an inclusion in my sourdough bread. Not only were they super delicious and add an awesome flavor and texture to my bread, but they were also very nutritious.

Great for Long-term Storage
Haven’t used them yet, but I have a grain mill and keep these on hand for when I run out of flour

Wheat berries
I got the hard red wheat to begin my adventure with the old grinder I found in my mothers things. I look forward to blending that wheat with the white berries soon. I'll let you know

Great Quality Product
Love Sunrise Wheat Berries! Mills up so fresh. Also fast shipping by the company. My go to for Wheat Berries!

Grinding my own flour
I love grinding my own flour. It is not as fine as the sunrise packaged flour. But that is ok, still makes great baked goods! I love that I can grind what I need.

Sonoran Wheat Berries
Wonderful product. I like to steam the berries for breakfast or throw into salads. Mild flavor, nice pop when steamed.

Love these wheat berries!
This wheat tastes wonderful, doesn't upset my stomach, and was clean and free of debris. I've used it for all sorts of baking- muffins, pancakes, waffles, zucchini bread, banana bread, English muffins, etc. and they turned out beautifully.

Great berries
I love that I can mill my own flour again. I love that I can have fresh flour when I need it, and that it bakes just as well as store bought flours.

Great wheat!
Love these wheat berries! The soft white are definitely my preference over hard red wheat.

Yummy
Very tasty

Wheat Berries
I love the taste of the bread I make with freshly milled wheat berries! It is also bread my “gluten intolerant” granddaughter can eat!

So tasty and yet healthy!
This is my first time after many years home grinding my own flour. Heavier than the white, but love the nuttyness. I make it in the same small pan I use for Soda Bread…very filling.

Yum!
Grinds up into a beautiful whole wheat pastry flour

Wheat berries
I really like the wheat berries but am having a hard time finding ways to use them…on the other hand I love the bread flour and bake bread at least twice a week…
