Jack-O'-Loaf

Jack-O'-Loaf

Sunrise Flour Mill invites you to be part of the first annual Jack-O’-Loaf Halloween Heritage Bread Contest.

The winner of the contest will receive free Heritage Bread Blend Flour for a year.

At Sunrise Flour Mill, we consider baking as a pure act of creativity, taking humble ingredients and transforming them into something extraordinary—or in this case, frighteningly fun. This spooky season, we encourage you to bake a loaf of bread, use your imagination to transform it into a spooky decorative piece, and send it to us for judging.

There are only two rules: your creepy creation must be bread, and all the bewitching decorations must be edible. (Non-edible decorations like candles, lights, or props can be used only for presentation but should not dominate the design.)

Other than that, we want you to express your ghoulish creativity however you choose. You can bake a baguette monster with handmade pasta hair or a sandwich loaf centipede with 100 candy legs, or you can bake a braided bread loaf that looks like an embalmed mummy or a sourdough bread bowl filled with witches brew—we cannot wait to see what kind of haunting heritage loaf you come up with!

The Jack-O’-Loaf Halloween Heritage Bread Contest starts today, and submissions will remain open until Monday, October 27. The winner of the contest will be announced on Halloween, October 31. On that day two runners-up will also be announced, each receiving a $100 gift card to Sunrise Flour Mill. Email at least two (2) photos of your Jack-O’-Loaf bread, along with a short description about your creation, to jackoloaf@sunriseflourmill.com before midnight on Monday, October 27.

Don’t carve pumpkins this Halloween. Instead, bake with Sunrise Flour Mill, have a scary good time turning your bread into devilishly delicious decoration, and enter to win free Heritage Bread Blend Flour for a year.
