Jack-O'-Loaf

Jack-O'-Loaf

The Jack-O-Loaf Contest Is Closed!

At Sunrise Flour Mill, we believe baking is an act of pure creativity — transforming simple, humble ingredients into something extraordinary (and in this case, delightfully eerie).

This Halloween season, we invited bakers everywhere to craft their most imaginative loaves — from baguette monsters and mummified braids to bubbling cauldron bread bowls. The only rules? The creation had to be bread, and all decorations had to be edible (a few spooky props were fine for flair!).

You delivered in the most hauntingly creative ways. Scroll down to meet our winner, celebrate the runner-ups, and admire all the amazing Jack-O-Loaf entries that made this contest such a blast. 🎃🍞

Thanks to everyone who joined the fun — we were blown away by your creativity! From spooky smiles to bread-iful beasts, your loaves brought serious Halloween spirit to the kitchen.

1st Place

Notes: "Sourdough bread baked in a bundt pan. Served with spinach dip. Painted with food coloring and decorated with poppy seeds, fennel seeds, and chili seeds for the eyes. Dill on the captured fly that has potato chip wings. Spiderweb made from string cheese."

Meet the runner-ups

Notes: "I made gingerbread, sugar cookies, boney breadsticks, and the Jack-O-Loaf — all using the Heritage White Flour. The Jack will get cut and filled with sauce to dip the bones."

Notes: "The bread is made with beet juice in the dough and covered with black cocoa powder. The eyes are sugar, and the fangs are almond slices."

Check out all the amazing entries below!
