Whole wheat dinner rolls. So soft, light, and packed full of flavor and nutrients. The perfect addition to your super table.
Ingredients
1 Cup Lukewarm Milk
1 Package Yeast (2 1/2 tsp)
2 Tbsp Softened Butter
1 Tbsp Honey
1/2 tsp Salt
-
1 1/4 Cup Heritage White Flour, sifted
-
1 1/4 Cup Heritage Whole Wheat Flour, sifted
Directions
In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix together milk and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Mix in butter, honey, and salt.
Gradually mix in white and whole wheat flours. Beat thoroughly by hand for about 5 minutes. If needed, add enough flour to make a dough just barely firm enough to handle.
Knead until smooth. Let rise for one hour.
Punch down and shape immediately into 1 ½ inch round balls (about 10-12, depending on your pan size).
Arrange in a buttered pan so they are touching. Brush lightly with melted butter and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. Meanwhile, heat oven to 425 degrees.
Bake until browned, 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!
Made the rolls first. Well received by my family. Then, I made this recipe into a loaf of bread. Everyone loved the taste.
Do you think these will work out with oat milk vs dairy?
After shaping into balls, can these be frozen, then brought our for the final ride the day you bake them?
Or, do you think baking then freezing is better?
