About Ultra-Fine Heritage Whole Wheat Flour
Our Heritage Whole Wheat Flour is milled from organic heritage Turkey Red wheat. It is milled in a proprietary Unifine high-velocity impact milling system, rather than a stone mill. This produces a super-fine, highly nutritious, 100% whole grain flour.
Our Unifine mill produces the finest whole wheat flour on the market. The bran pieces are smaller than those in conventional whole wheat flour. This super-fine grind creates loftier baked goods with greater volume than would be expected from a traditional whole wheat flour. Adding some Whole Wheat flour to bread and other baked goods will have people wondering why they have so much flavor. Use for: bread, rolls, pancakes, muffins, and cookies; and in any recipe calling for whole wheat flour.
This flour is heritage, organic, non-bromated, and has zero additives.

What is Heritage wheat?
Heritage wheat was the predominant wheat grown in America up until the 1950’s. Many people find it more digestible than modern wheat. Its long deep root system allowed it to survive the Dust Bowl, and gave the Midwest its famous nickname “The a Bread Basket”. Heritage wheat was a staple in every household. The history of it can be tracked to biblical times and has been responsible for nourishing generations. It was grown before the introduction of intensive scientific plant breeding.This wheat is experiencing a resurgence.

How to create a subscription

I try to incorporate whole wheat into my breads. This organic heritage flour is fantastic. My gluten-sensitive friends can eat my baked goods with no issues.
It was good. However the scone mixture caime open and was all over the package. I had to throw it away.

Rises beautifully, kneads easily, flavor of the bread is like what you wish it could taste like when you smell bread baking.

Delicious and easy to work with
I was hesitant to add whole wheat flour to the recipes I had been traditionally making with all-purpose whites flour or, in the case of my standard sourdough loaf, just the bread blend flour. I was worried that my bread or other baked goods would end up dense or without the rise or taste or texture I was used to. This flour left me pleasantly surprised. My bread didn’t lose its rise or texture and the addition of the whole wheat flour created a subtly deeper, toastier flavor with nutty notes. I love that I can now include more whole grains without sacrificing flavor or texture in my recipes.

Fine = easy to mix
I really like all the Sunrise flours - I think whole wheat is more nourishing, so I like to incorporate it as much as I can. I think the fine grind makes it easier.
