This blend was created to craft loaves that rise beautifully, slice cleanly, and taste extraordinary. Naturally unbleached, freshly milled, and free of additives, it’s an ideal flour for sourdough or yeasted breads. Many customers find it more digestible than modern wheat-based bread flours.

About Heritage Bread Blend Flour

This bread flour is a unique blend of two heritage wheat flours - Turkey Red and White Sonora. Turkey Red is a strong, hard winter wheat that's rich in protein and has excellent baking qualities. It has a pure white endosperm that will dazzle you. No need for bleaching this organic bread flour. It is naturally an unbleached flour. White Sonora is a soft wheat with a rich, nutty flavor and creamy-gold color. Together these flours will make a loaf of bread you’ll be proud of whether it’s sourdough or made with yeast. We think it’s the best flour for bread.

Many people with gluten intolerance find our heritage organic bread flour more digestible than modern hybridized wheat.

What is Heritage wheat?

Heritage Wheat-The Way Wheat Used to Be:

Heritage wheat was the predominant wheat grown in America up until the 1950’s. Many people find it more digestible than modern wheat. Its long deep root system allowed it to survive the Dust Bowl, and gave the Midwest its famous nickname “The Bread Basket”. Heritage wheat was a staple in every household. The history of it can be tracked to biblical times and has been responsible for nourishing generations. It was grown before the introduction of intensive scientific plant breeding.This wheat is experiencing a resurgence.

How to create a subscription

Simply find the products you want to order on subscription and select "Subscribe and save", then choose the frequency for delivery 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or 120 days. Finally add the product to your cart and proceed to checkout. You can add as many products as you like to your subscription.

Flour I Can Feel Good About Using (and recommending)!

As a health and lifestyle coach, I’m often cautious about recommending wheat products, simply because so many people struggle with them. Conventional wheat has changed dramatically over the years—it’s often genetically altered, sprayed with glyphosate, and processed using modern high-heat, high-speed milling that strips away nutrients and disrupts how our bodies recognize and digest it. No wonder so many people feel bloated, inflamed, or achy after eating it. That’s why I’m such a fan of Sunrise Flour Mill. Their heritage wheat is grown and milled the traditional way, without the chemicals and aggressive processing that make modern wheat so problematic. I may not bake often, but when I do—for special occasions or cozy weekends—I feel so much better using this flour. And even better? My husband, who typically experiences joint pain after eating conventional baked goods, has zero issues when we use Sunrise. Yes, it costs more—but to me, it’s worth every penny for the peace of mind and how good it makes us feel. Highly recommend!

Changed my life

I've had stomach issues for the last 10 years. Not necessarily gluten. But something the doctors and I couldn't pin down. I knew it had to be modified food but how does one prove that? So I've suffered through craving baked goods and not allowing myself to have any, then caving and living through the torture after. When I found this product I ordered it immediately. Love Sunrise Flour

Great Quality!

I used the bread flour to make pascha bread for Easter. When I opened the bag, the first thing I noticed was the wonderful smell of the flour. I mixed the bread recipe as always. When the dough was rising, it filled the house with the best aroma. The bread turned out great. The taste and texture were perfect. Definitely will buy again.
